Call for papers

In the research fields of Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR), tracking and registration methods are still one of the most important topics. The tracking research field is highly active, and numerous methods appear on a regular basis. The TrakMark working group (WG) was established 2009 to create a benchmark test that permits objective and accurate evaluation of the tracking methods. This year, the workshop will cover a wide range of topics concerning AR/MR registration, tracking and benchmarking. Key areas include, but are not limited to:

Title: Dense Localization and Mapping: Recent Advances and Benchmark Evaluation

Abstract: Image-based reconstruction from color- or RGB-D cameras is an important challenge with numerous applications. I will present methods to tackle the problems of localization and mapping by means of spatially dense approaches. To this end, I will introduce variational approaches and show how they can be minimized using convex optimization techniques. In particular, I will focus on algorithms which allow realtime performance. Finally, I will discuss recent developments aiming at benchmarking the performance of such algorithms.

This is joint work with Kalin Kolev, Jan Stuehmer, Frank Steinbruecker and Juergen Sturm.

Paper format of ICPR2012 conference ( http://www.icpr2012.org/submission.html ) is recommended. The number of pages of the paper should be from 2 to 4.
